Kee Klamp guard rail along a highway
Kee Systems has supplied, delivered and installed a permanent guardrail system along a main route which links London and Brighton, providing safety to maintenance teams, pedestrians and drivers.
One hundred and twelve accidents took place between 2003 and 2007 on the A23 dual carriageway between Handcross and Warninglid in Sussex. As the main route from the South East coast to London, improved traffic flow was needed. The project to widen the road and improve safety by bringing the road up to modern standards began in October 2011. Carillion, an integrated support services company, was the main contractor for this project and was given a brief to provide a permanent safety system. Kee Systems was awarded the contract and supplied, delivered and installed a guardrail consisting of 200 1/m of 1100mm high, top fixed Kee Klamp® fittings.
“We haven’t worked with Kee Systems before, but after this job, we will be looking to continue the relationship we have developed by working with them again in the future” said Kunaratnam Balendra, Carillion Site Engineer. “We were particularly impressed with the customer service the team provided. They responded to all enquiries immediately, completed the project on time and were experienced and reliable. Not only did we receive top quality service, but the product itself was ideal for this project and provided us with a cost effective and flexible solution that is quick and easy to install.”
Kee Klamp® fittings require no welding therefore eliminating the need for a hot work permit, something which was of benefit to the Carillion team. As was the fact that no special tools are required as the fittings don’t require threading or bolting and are versatile enough to accommodate onsite variations.
