DDA Handrail for The Hale Youth Centre

DDA Handrail System Helps Children with disabilities

Corrigenda, a UK based facility company, contacted Kee Systems to see if we could help them with an access ramp handrail for the Hale Youth Centre in Farnham. The existing ramp was without a handrail, preventing children with mobility issues, access to the Centre.

Dda Handrail System

Our first response was to share our Disability Access Handrail Catalogue with Corrigenda, allowing them to review the benefits of our system and to understand how the system works. Following on from this, a site visit was organised for one of our specialist team members to meet the client personally, this helped to gain a better understanding of the building and system requirements, enabling them to offer the perfect solution to the Centre.

Why Are DDA Handrails Different?

The Kee Access fittings range are designed to connect tubing whilst maintaining a flush edge with the tube at all times, creating a smooth, uninterrupted handrail.

This type of handrail allows a hand to comfortably pass along the railing from start to end without the need to let go; this makes a very big difference to somebody with a disability, whether it be a physical disability, or visually impaired; the uninterrupted assistance of the handrail allows them to manoeuvre obstacles such as inclines and stairwells safely.

Under the terms of the Equality Act, reasonable adjustments need to be made to public and commercial establishments to overcome physical barriers which prevent disabled access.

For many years, Kee Systems has designed and supplied disability access (DDA) handrail both commercially and domestically, to ensure everyone has the same level of access no matter their impairment.

Kee Systems also offers a colour coating service – our fittings can be powder coated in all RAL colours. Polyester powder coating is recognised as complying with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.

Speed and Ease of Installation

Kee Access fittings have been designed to suit BS EN 10255 (ISO 65) steel tubes. Any Kee Access railing system can be easily installed with a hex tool and tube cutters. This means it can be easily assembled without specialised workers or equipment, saving you both time and money.

Kee Access is the leading handrail safety solution compliant with legislation covering disability access. DDA Kee Access handrail systems last for decades and can withstand harsh environments. Components are hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and TUV approved.

Thanks to Kee Systems, the Centre became a safe and accessible for wheelchair use as well as for children with ambulant disabilities.
