Kee Systems: seventy years of making the railway network safer
Kee Systems has been providing Safety Solutions for pedestrians, drivers and maintenance teams along the railways for 70 years.
Almost 350 people a year are killed on the railways and the industry is working hard to address the issue of safety.
Network Rail now rank contractors such as ourselves on our health and safety, whilst the industry as a whole entered into an agreement with the HSE which delegates enforcement functions to us for health and safety law at the design stage of new railway infrastructure; this enables us to ensure the industry takes opportunities to eradicate and reduce risk at the design stage, which is when such risk management interventions are most effective and provide the best value for money.
The progress being made is encouraging but with the scale of growth in the rail sector, including passenger levels, increasing by 57% in the past 10 years and with 1.69 billion passenger journeys been made in 2015 and 2016, this focus on safety needs to continue.
Over the years Kee Systems has worked on a variety of projects within the railway industry, ranging from installing DDA compliant handrails at Staines and Hayle railway stations, to providing safety barriers with mesh infills to separate depot staff from the Brighton main line.
Recently, Kee Systems installed guardrail systems from Oxford to Bicester along the East West Coast railway.
Whether it is protecting engineering and maintenance teams working trackside, or providing DDA compliant handrails for passengers accessing stations, our range of Kee Klamp® and Kee Access® fittings provide the ideal solution.
Fittings have the benefit of allowing bespoke solutions to be constructed to meet specific site requirements, and the speed of installation makes them a perfect fit for the rail sector
