Using Kee Klamp fittings for sports and play structures

Company News

With the Rugby World Cup starting it seems the perfect time to show why Kee Klamp® Key Clamps fittings are ideal for use in a variety of sport and play structures.

The versatility of these fittings makes them the perfect solution for creating net enclosures for sports such as cricket, athletics, playground climbing frames as well as the safety guardrails required in these areas.  They also make for a quicker, easier and more cost-effective construction since there is no welding or fabrication required.

We supply the Kee Klamp® Key Clamps fittings range to contractors, architects and specifiers working on leisure, recreational and playground projects. This comprehensive selection of simple to use, galvanised malleable cast iron fittings allow pre-cut lengths of standard tubing to be connected together to form virtually any tubular framework structure.  The option of powder coated fittings in any RAL colour is also available to enhance the structure.  This is a preference when the fittings are being used in children’s playgrounds as it provides a creative and attractive finish.

All fittings within the Kee Klamp® Key Clamps range incorporate an integral socket screw which locks the fitting securely onto its tube to give an excellent slip load performance. The extensive range ensures that they can also cope easily with any changes in direction or gradient, and easily accommodate requirements for adapting or extending an existing play or sports structure.

Kee Systems has supplied Kee Klamp® Key Clamps products for a number of leisure projects.  These red powder-coated fittings have been installed at a sports arena in Hampstead Heath to provide a safety barrier between the spectators and athletes.  Kee Klamp® Key Clamps fittings have also been used to create cricket nets since the early 1990s, and continue to be a popular application.

We’re not aware of any rugby ground applications, but we’d be very surprised if they haven’t been used somewhere so we’ll be watching the World Cup avidly, just in case.
